A Winter Solstice cultural immersion of peacemaking and resiliency building in the Aloha Way
Lua • Ho’oponopono • Huaka’i
On the Island of Hawai’i
With the world-renowned Hawaiian Wisdom Keeper, Kumu Ramsay Taum
As the rain comes and the snow falls, we bow to the darkness of night sky and the wisdom of the ones who have come before us. We honor a time of peace, and celebrate our fertile lands. We retreat, rest, review and re-nourish.
As the wheel of time turns towards winter, we welcome a moment of pause. A container of reconciliation, integration, and forgiveness. Evoking ancient practices of an ancient land.. We dive into the technologies of Ho’oponopono, Lua and the Aloha Way. Coming into greater alignment with ourselves, each other and the world at large. We strengthen our bodies, train our minds and clear our hearts. Integrating the year that has been, making peace within, offering prayers for the new one to come.

HO'OPONOPONO: Me, My Selves, and the "I" Returning to Truth Beyond Limits
Kumu Ramsay Taum will guide us in the practice of Ho‘oponopono as it was taught to him by Kahuna La'au Lapa'au Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona. Ho‘oponopono is an ancient process of reconciliation, forgiveness, and peacemaking that helps release, cleanse, and transmute barriers and obstacles to peace, love, and prosperity rooted in ancestral memory. Each of us has our own ‘blueprint’; our own truth. Disease, discomfort, distress, and disorder are symptoms we experience when we are no longer living according to that truth by trying to live someone else’s truth. Ho‘oponopono is the Hawaiian healing process of re-establishing balance and truth.
This guided experience by Kumu Ramsay focuses on the deeper meaning of this practice that is rooted in Hawaiian spirituality, cultural thought, and principles -- a meaning that is sometimes lost in translation or overlooked when reduced to a sound bite or simple mantra that has been popularized with Ho‘oponopono. Kumu Ramsay's program is intended to reaffirm and establish a deeper understanding of the spiritual principles embedded in Ho’oponopono which make it an effective life-transforming practice.

LUA: THE WAY OF THE HAWAIIAN WARRIOR for Safety, Peace, and Prosperity
Guided by Kumu Ramsay Taum, a world-renowned Kumu Lua & cultural ambassador — we evoke the teachings of the Warrior Priest through the practice of Lua (Hawaiian Martial Arts), and how it supports us in navigating the physical and emotional challenges of personal life and the world at large. This practice is used to connect and unify the mind, body, and spirit. Kumu Ramsay will share and demonstrate the basic principles, concepts, and application of this unique ancient cultural battle system which creates new ways of being in relationship with the world.
The morning session will focus on building a relationship with the basic practices of Lua, while the afternoon session will build upon the techniques learned previously. For returning students, this is a great opportunity to refresh your practice and deepen into the basic and more advanced protocols of this battle art.

Course 3: Dec 21st, 2023
Huaka’i: The Journey to Mauna Awakea
In the Hawaiian Wheel, as passed down to us by Kahu Kalani Souza, the Winter Solstice is correlated to the direction of North, the element of air, the realms of the ancestors, the dark night sky, and the 4th phase of water: ice. This celestial alignment falls during the season of Makahiki, marked by the rise of the Pleiades in the sky. A time of rest, peace, cleansing, prayer, offerings, play & celebration.
On this special day we journey to the tallest mountain in the world from its base up, Mauna Awakea also known as Kaohe. Guided by Kumu Ramsay Taum we learn about the historical, cultural and spiritual significance of this sacred mountain as we come together to pule (pray) and ho’okupu (make offerings) of peace for all people and planet. At a towering 14,000 ft above sea level, the Mauna is usually covered in snow during the winter months. Prepare accordingly.
Time: 1:30-5:30pm
Important: All students are responsible for bringing their own lunch, snacks and refreshments for the day.

"The Warrior Priest retreat was truly a profound and transformational experience. From the opening ceremonies, the teachings, meals and the moments in between — it was pristinely orchestrated. Myself as a life long martial artist and on the path of healing and service - the Ho’oponopono and Lua teachings made a big impact in my perspective of what it means to be a warrior, a protector, and a vessel for healing and transformation in my life and those who’s life I touch. Kumu Ramsay is a masterful teacher, always guiding each individual into their own truth and the team was truly incredible. This was an experience of a life time and I know it’s gifts will continue to ripple in my life as time unfolds. I feel motivated, inspired and hold an even deeper connection to the sacredness of this land and the path I am walking."

“It is hard to put into words how beautiful and powerful it was to experience The Way of The Warrior Priest led by Kumu Ramsay Taum. A few words can offer only a glimpse: Life altering, Awakening, Transformative, and Connective. It was truly a time of convergence to be at the right place, at the right time with those who were called to this journey led by Kumu Ramsay. From his guidance and teachings of Ho’oponopono to the basics of Lua we were able to draw powerful life lessons that if practiced and applied would allow us to live a life with more courage, empathy, compassion, love, and Aloha towards ourselves, then naturally towards others. We are at a critical time in human existence where I truly believe the wisdom and practice of our ancestors are vitally important to restore Lōkahi (harmony) to our world. Every opportunity I have to spend time with and to learn from Kumu Ramsay I consider a true blessing. Mahalo nui e Kumu!“
